Differences Between Spark Erosion Machining and Traditional Machining
2022-07-28
Compared with traditional processing methods, electrical discharge machining (EDM) has many advantages, such as its ability to process any conductive material, including those hard metal materials that traditional processes cannot handle.
Using EDM, it is possible to achieve depths that cutting tools cannot reach, making it an ideal method for high-precision deep machining.
EDM does not apply additional mechanical force to the workpiece during processing, ensuring the mechanical properties of the workpiece. Additionally, the surface finish after EDM is usually better than that of traditional processes.
Of course, EDM also has the characteristic of relatively slower processing efficiency, which indirectly increases processing costs, among other factors.
